James Burdett’s Blog

The thoughts of a Home Counties Conservative….not always necessarily political!

About

picture-84.jpgJames Burdett was born in 1980, this makes him a Thatcher Child but this doesn’t worry him too much. James grew up, was educated and still resides in Hertfordshire. James often gets advised to move into London, however he is underwhelmed by the idea. James is a politics geek, having been interested in politics since seeing news footage of Mrs Thatcher in the mid-80’s. Sharp-eyed readers will note that in the mid-eighties James would not have been 5 and they would be correct, his geekiness runs deep. James often regales people with tragic stories of how he awoke at 4:30AM on the night of the 1992 election to watch some of the results come in before heading off to school.  James considered this normal. Surprisingly, few people actually concur.

James  is not one of the leading political commentators in the world, the UK or anywhere else. This is a source of mild annoyance. James has been a semi-activist in Conservative politics in a small unremarked corner of South-East Hertfordshire for the better (or worse depending how you look at it) part of the last decade. James has at various times leafletted, canvassed, and stood for election. At one election he was successful and spent 4 year as a Borough Councillor before finding that the need to make a shed load of money to cover his mortgage was incompatible with remaining on the Council. He stepped down in May 2007.

James now works in Mayfair, earning his shed load of money, and lives in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. He is still loosely involved in Conservative Politics, and blogs as and when time and inspiration allows. He judges that blogging is more conducive to remaining, dry, sane and unabused by members of the public or their Alsatian dogs! Otherwise James is an entirely unremarkable, and unremarked, individual in a rather unremarkable world. It should also be pointed out that James has an underdeveloped sense of humour. James can count no-one of much importance amongst his friends, and few people will have ever heard of him. Sometimes James prefers this and sometimes he does not. James very much hopes that anyone who stumbles across his blog will enjoy it and hopes even more that they will actually come back again!
